It's true that PDF reader displays a small ad at the top of the viewer, right beneath the window controls. However, this can be removed simply by unchecking the "Advertisement" item from the View menu. Small price to pay for a great piece of software that runs much faster that Adobe's bloatware - even on my Pentium II 333.
As Dan says, the ad "can be removed simply by unchecking the "Advertisement" item from the View menu", BUT it will come back next time you start the program, as this setting doesn't appear to be saved.
I've been using Foxit for about a month now, in place of bloatware 'Acrobat', and I've never seen any ad(s).
The advertisement comes back only a fixed number of times, I think about 3. So, you remove it the first few times, then it's gone for good. Rather annoyingly cute. So, it's technically nagware, but with a short attention span. BTW, I highly recommend it too.
